Happy Girl

Our little princess is as busy as ever lately! I cannot believe the daily transformations she goes through, learning more, exhibiting new behaviours (including episodes of naughtiness, still cute though!) and the new words she is picking up. She is finally saying Mama as well, it took awhile but now she says it clear as day. Her other words: Dada, no, Nonno, Nana, Dog (Da), Ca (for Luca), Cheese (sounds like "shee"), Shoe (sounds alot like cheese), Steamy (sounds sort of like cheese or shoe but involves waving her hand in the air to indicate the steam from the shower), Hot (Ha), Bray (for BrainCandy or Bruce Brain), Baby (Bay), Sha Sha (for Shake-Shake-Shake the parachute...), Nose (No), Eye, Woof Woof Woof (when asked "how does a doggie go?") She also makes a mewing sound for a cat while making the sign for cat (whiskers) and she has managed to do "Baa" for a sheep a couple of times. There may be more, she keeps picking up new ones. Yesterday she did an amazing (as a proud parent I consider amazing) thing. She grabbed an apple from the grocery bag and ran into the living room. When I followed her in there she was holding on to one of her books and pointing to the picture of the apple! She was so excited about this.

With Santa Claus

Cecily was not at all in the Christmas spirit when we took her to sit on Santa's lap. She screamed and reached for us and was only calmed when we all posed with Santa for the picture. Ho Ho Ho.

Happy Thanksgiving

We traveled down to Palos Verdes for Thanksgiving. It was a great visit but Cecily is starting to have separation anxiety and was getting upset when I had to leave the room to cook. Lets just say there were some Thanksgiving tears! But she was comforted by turkey and pumpkin pie.

She is starting to walk alot on her own now, and is SO proud of herself. She totters several steps, sometimes pausing to clap for her achievement. She seems to walk better when she is holding something in her hand. She loves loves loves to listen to singing and to sing herself. She says "Bray Bray" to sing the Brain Candy song, and "I,I,I to sing I like to eat-eat-eat apples and bananas" (My father said he would not tolerate hearing that song anymore as we sang it quite a bit, especially when she was eating an apple or a banana). She also holds her fingers to her lips and says "Shshsh" for the Wheels on the Bus (the mommy's on the bus go 'Sshshshsh"...) All very cute for which she gets lots of kisses and praise.

Play time

Cecily has a little pink "princess car" which she loves. She rides it up and down the path in the backyard honking the horn.

Birthday Party

This weekend we had Cecily's birthday party at Greg's parents house. She played with her cousins and Cara and Addison came over as well. I got a repeat of the cake she had on her actual birthday since she loved it so much, Pumpkin Cheesecake from the Cheesecake factory. (I know, shameful I did not make
her a homemade cake for her first birthday) Her favorite birthday present was a toy flip-phone from Nana and Nonno.

One Year Old

~With Daddy, Mommy & Baby Doll~

~ Bath time buddies (Cecily & Addison)~

~Cecily and Kathy, her beloved nanny~

Well well. Here we are at the end of the Cecily's first year.

What she is doing: No walking yet, crawling like speedy gonzales, cruising all furniture, climbing on things like a little monkey. Clapping her hands, trying to sing along to songs (LOVES music and singing), loves toys and non-toy objects that she turns into toys like bottle pieces. She is starting to like puzzles and things she can accomplish, like putting the rings onto the stick. Grandma gave her a baby doll for her birthday and she hugs it and snuggles with it. She loves Luca and plays ball with her. Luca is very patient and gentle with her.

What she is saying: Dog, Daddy, "Woof", Hi, she said "Hi Dad" this morning which was unbelievably cute. No-No. What she isnt saying: Ma-Ma. Sometimes there are some noises that sort of sound like it, but for some reason she just wont say it.

Mealtime: So exciting to be able to give her cow's milk and eggs and all those forbidden things. She loves anything with cheese. Likes spinach and sweet potatoes. Went wild for some pumpkin pancakes I made. Cottage cheese, Yogurt, crackers. Pretty much all is fair game now except for evil peanuts, honey and strawberries (am I still supposed to keep her away from those? Not sure) I am still nursing her at night and in the morning.

Bedtime: Well- A touchy subject. But she was starting to do really great, sleeping through the night some nights, only getting up once on others. Then we went down to Palos Verdes for a trip and it all went out the window. She is easing back into it now and slept until 5:45 last night with only a brief waking up when we went to bed at 11.

We just love love love her so much. Cannot imagine life without her.
