Cecily's First Easter

It was lots of fun dressing Ceci up in her pretty Easter dress and visiting with her cousins. The whole Easter Egg hunt/waiting for the Easter Bunny is of course not quite her cup of tea yet (she was more interested in tasting the plastic eggs, and the basket...) but she loves being around other children now.

B.W.A (Baby With Attitude)

Cecily has been showing off more and more of her personality lately. She knows she's the boss of us. She seems to realize that she is the most special baby in the whole universe (maybe bc I whisper this in her ear all the time?) She has started shaking her head from side to side (as if she is saying "NO") and squeals with laughter when I do the same. I have let her have a few more "tastes" including apples on Saturday and then peaches today (homemade- cooked, pureed and then mixed with a little breast milk...mmmmm) She has been very very drooly and is definitely teething.

Sittin' Pretty

We noticed last week that Cecily is able to sit on her own now! She loves to sit and play with her toys. Of course she starts to topple after a little while, so I dont go too far away.
She is getting very fiesty lately, and protests when things aren't going her way. She is also pretty rough with me, especially when I get home from work in the evenings. She grabs me, clawing at me and pulling my hair and rubs her mouth all over my face. I am pretty sure these are her "kisses". Hopefully they get more gentle over time. Despite the pain, I love them just the same.

Nights have become a bit rocky. I had this dream baby who started sleeping through the night before she was two months old. Now things are starting to change. More nights than not, she has woken up once, sometimes twice, sometimes-gasp-even three times. Usually all she needs is some rocking and singing to go back to sleep, but I am afraid I am getting myself into a sticky situation.
I was deciding to wait until 6 months to introduce any solid food, but I cheated a little and gave her a bit of pureed banana the other night. She kept eyeing me as I was eating so I gave in. She seemed curious but made a bad face. Im not sure how much she actually ingested, but after this event there were no poopy diapers for three days! Not sure if it was related, but I think her next encounter with solids will be the recommended rice cereal instead of more banana.

Weekend Fun

Cecily visited with her Great Aunties Jennifer and Shelly this weekend.

Jennifer knit her a darling peacock colored sweater.

We went for a walk in the park and took some pictures by the cherry blossom tree.

Five Months Old

Cecily turned five months last Friday (March 9). At last Tuesday's doctors appointment she weighed 15 #, 11 oz. She was very active at the appointment, smiling and laughing and tearing apart the tissue paper which lines the table. Smiles turned to tears when she got her shots, but she seemed to like the catapillar sticker the nurse gave her. She is in the 68% for weight, 38% for height (shorty like me!) and 80% for head circumference (big brain!).

She is starting to sit up a bit now, with Mommy right there to catch her as she starts to tip over. She is VERY interested in everything and will grab things and then throw them. She is fascinated with Luca and her toys and watching us eating. The Dr. says we can start introducing foods now (starting with rice cereal) and I plan to do this soon.

We moved back into our house last weekend and the newly painted walls and new hardwood floors look fabulous. The best is being back with our pup, and now we can take walks in Golden Gate park again with our two girls.

Other news: Our friends Scott and Cara gave birth to their little girl Addison Lynne Newman on Wed, March 7. She came a little bit too early (7 1/2 weeks early) but is doing great. We can't wait for her to come home and for all the great times ahead with the two girls.

Family Photo Shoot

We had great fun getting some pictures taken a couple of weekends ago by our photographer friend Mike Wang, who had rented a studio for the day. Cecily could have been a little more cooperative (she was being very stingy with the smiles) but I think the darkness of the studio and the brightness of the flash were a little overwhelming for her. I think she looks like a little doll in these pictures.

Rollin' Rollin' Rollin'...

Our baby girl has figured out how to roll! She can only do it from belly to back, and it seems from only right to left. She has learned what to do if she is not enjoying her tummy time. What a great birthday present for Mommy!

Hanging Out with Cecily

We have just been having so much fun with our baby girl lately. Returning to work has made me appreciate even more all the moments with her. Work has renergized me in one sense, but is also exhausting. (And pumping leaves alot to be desired...) But coming home from work and seeing my little girl and my husband brings me back to life.
