Demeter and Persephone

Originally titled Demeter/Demahter  which I thought a fabulous title-all at once a play on the old Gershwin "Tomayto/Tomahto", a reference to the different pronounciations of the name Demeter, and perhaps, a nod to the German word for "the mother", "Die Mutter". But it is no matter/mutter because the title was changed to Demeter and Persephone.

This was Cecily's second year in "Theatre Arts" with Ms Miranda at CES, having been one of the only kindergarteners to brave the class last year (see last year's post Spring Play ) Probably because she was A) "seasoned" due to aforementioned experience and B) willing and eager, she was the only first-grader to get a "main part". She was Demetia (Demeesheea), one of the Demeters in the play. There were two Demeters. And two Persephones, and two Hades and two Zeuses etc. Most all of the second graders got a meaty part, and she scored one of the best. So she had alot of lines, which delivered with great clarity and comic timing. The best, in fact, performer in the play.
But of course, that is die Mutter's opinion.
