Daddy and daughter camping trip

Greg and Scott took Cecily and Addison camping for some daddy/daughter time this weekend. They went to a campsite outside of Santa Rosa and went swimming, fishing for crawdads, collected worms, had a campfire, and made a Burning Marshmallow Man (their own version of Buring Man)

Words and Coloring

We are almost at the one year mark, I can hardly believe it. Little Miss Piper is certainly developing her personality and now that she is walking it seems even stronger. She wanders around babbling and being quite insistent on whatever she is trying to say. Most of the time it doesnt make much sense (like the "I, I, I, I, I" she kept doing all weekend) But she does have a few words. So far:

Oh-Oh (her first word)
MaMa (I have to love that one!)
Dad/DaDa
Dog (sort of)
Ball
Mmmm (not really a word, but so cute! She says this when she is hungry or smells food cooking)

The other skill she has started is coloring! Cecily was busy coloring the sheet she gets every Saturday at Gymnastics. She then brought it over and left it on the ottoman. Piper went over to the art table, got a crayon and went back to the paper and started scribbling on it, looking proud. Cecily wasnt very happy with this of course but I couldnt help but give Piper praise.

Walking!

Piper is definitely a walker now. She has been doing it for awhile here and there but ever since this weekend she keeps adding more and more steps every day. Last night she walked across the living room into the hallway. She walked across my bedroom. She can walk, pivot and walk the other direction. So I thinks its fair to say she is a walker.

I will try to get video of it to post!

4th of July

What a great 4th of July! We stayed in Sonoma as we have in years past, although this year, since we are all getting to be larger families, we stayed in a hotel instead of at Cara and Scott's. The Best Western in Sonoma is great, with a lovely courtyard and pool. We got to have a parents night out on Sat (thanks Carley and Cindy for babysitting!) and went and had chilled seafood and cocktails on the square. Then on Sunday Cara and I had our toenails done and enjoyed a glass of wine at Ledmans wine bar. It was sweltering hot (100 degrees) The girls ran around in the sprinkler and went swimming at the pool in the afternoon. On the morning of the 4th we watched the parade downtown, then went back to Scott and Cara's for a long day of cooking, eating, drinking, and watching all the girls play. Bill and Sierra were there with their two girls (Luna and Sequoia) so between all of us we had 6 little girls running (or crawling) around. Later we went and had a late afternoon swim and then waited it out until time for the awesome fireworks show. All the girls (except Cassidy actually) ended up asleep by the end of the show.

Pool Time!

Babies! Piper wants to rip Cassidy's face off, but one day they'll be great friends.
